If you’ve ever wanted to know more about how to properly grade and authenticate sports cards, you’ll have your chance next month if you’re willing to travel to Florida.
CSG is hosting a first-of-its-kind two-day seminar June 26-27, with instruction, insight and contests. Those who prove to be especially good at it might just get a job offer out of the deal.
CSG Academy will take place June 26-27, 2021, at a restaurant facility near CSG headquarters in Sarasota, FL. The two-day seminar is free, with snacks, beverages, lunch and a happy hour included. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and accommodations, but the company is offering a limited number of travel/accommodation scholarships.
The seminar’s syllabus includes Card Grading 101, Authentication, Grading Technology, Alterations and Counterfeits and more. At the end of the seminar, there will be a card grading test for cash prizes: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.
Any job offers that may come will be “based on test performance and demonstrated card grading skill,” according to the company, which has been offering $2,500 incentives as it seeks to increase staff.
The deadline to apply is May 28 at 2 p.m. ET. CSG staff will immediately begin reviewing applications to determine who will be accepted to attend the seminar. CSG will send CSG Academy acceptance letters via email by June 3 at 5 p.m. ET.
CSG Academy attendees will also be able to submit sports cards to CSG for grading during the seminar.
