The courts did not agree with charges brought by the daughter of Hall of Famer Cool Papa Bell relating to cards issued by Topps.
Connie Brooks claim Topps produced 90,000 cards without permission back in 2001. She and another family member were also upset about what was written on the back of one issue in particular. Her lawsuit against Topps included the issuance of cards from a few different years.
Brooks did not fare well, however, according to a law professor’s blog breakdown of the Manhattan court’s recent and unpublicized decision in the long-running case.
