Lawrenceburg, Kentucky resident Jerry Milburn is on his way to fulfilling a pledge to give kids in the area a million reasons to smile. In just five months, the collector has given away more than 76,000 sports cards to area youth who wouldn’t otherwise be able to have a collection through his Commons for Kids program.

He says he’d like to get that number to one million.
Milburn accepts donations of cards and he and his wife package them up for distribution. On Sunday, he picked up 31,000 more thanks to area news coverage.
He also turns over those he buys that he doesn’t want.
He’s set up a website and blog where he chronicles the donations that have come from all over the country.
Part of the idea was teaching his five year-old son the importance of helping the less fortunate.
“He’s an only child and only grandchild, too, so he’s pretty spoiled,” Milburn told his local newspaper. “Doing this has helped him to know that not every kid has everything.”
