Seats from the long-time home of the College World Series will hit the market soon. Rosenblatt Stadium opened in 1948 and has been host to the College World Series for 60 years. The final CWS game at Rosenblatt was played on June 29, 2010.
The park was also home to several minor league teams, including the AAA Omaha Royals. Both the CWS and Royals moved to a new stadium this season.
S&S Seating has been hired to remove the seats and prepare them for sale to collectors and fans.
“Rosenblatt Stadium is a sports icon,” said Calvin Sisson, Executive Director of the Omaha Zoo Foundation. “We are thrilled to be able to share the stadium memorabilia with baseball and College World Series fans across the country. All proceeds from the stadium seat sales will benefit the Infield at the Zoo Legacy Project, a project that will create a beautiful outdoor public space to be enjoyed by future generations.”
Season ticket holders get first crack followed by the general public sometime in July. The seats are being sold in the ‘as-is’ unrefurbished condition that they are removed from the stadium.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Omaha Zoo Foundation on this stadium seat project,” said Dale Sprinkle, President of S&S Seating. “College World Series fans have a unique opportunity to own a piece of history, and S&S Seating is honored to provide our expertise to ensure each seat pair is professionally removed and distributed.”
