The Michigan fan who grabbed the pennant-clinching home run ball hit by Magglio Ordonez has a decision to make.
Jon Fenlon was just hoping to see his Detroit Tigers clinch the American League pennant in person. He never dreamed he’d wind up with the most important piece of Tigers’ memorabilia since the last out of the ’84 Series. But the 23 year-old college student has two reasons to celebrate.
Magglio Ordonez sent the Tigers into the ’06 Fall Classic with a dramatic 3-run homer to sweep the A’s on Saturday night. The ball flew toward the outfield seats where Fenlon was sitting. A muffed grab, a bounce and suddenly Fenlon had a piece of baseball history.
Ordonez wants the ball. He says he’ll pass it on to the Hall of Fame which already has the bat. Fenlon is pondering his options but it’s safe to say he’s gotten some offers that beat selling used textbooks for pizza money.
