St. Catharines, Ont. resident Trevor Glode was driving in Pennsylvania in October of 2003 when he was pulled over and arrested. Police charged him with carrying over 26 pounds of marijuana in the spare tires of his rented SUV.
The charges were eventually dismissed, but Glode claimed Niagara Regional Police executing a search warrant at his home back in Canada removed a huge collection of hockey cards and memorabilia as part of their investigation. Glode claims his most valuable items were never returned.
He filed suit, seeking to recover the value of the collection, which he claimed included multiple Wayne Gretzky rookie cards, and over $2 million in damages.
This week, a judge handed down her ruling. It didn’t go in his favor, according to this story in The Standard.
