If there’s a well-known athlete signing autographs in Texas, chances are you will run into Chris Tyson or one of his friends. He’s a San Antonio autograph collector who gets items signed for himself, but also for his business, Tyson Sports Fundraising. He’s essentially an autograph broker, offering signed items he owns to charity auctions in exchange for a 50-50 split of the proceeds.
Tyson hustles wherever he can to collect signatures then offers them as sort of a one man traveling autograph road show. When a charity he’s partnered with holds a big event, there’s usually an auction attached to it and it’s Tyson’s memorabilia that raises most of the funds. He says it’s been a very successful venture and the charities say the autographed items are popular with those in attendance, putting more money in their coffers for various projects.
Is he busy? Yes, according to what he told The San Antonio Express-News.
