A Florida man sent a package of very expensive vintage baseball cards to be appraised.
Things did not go well.
You may have lost a few cards through the shipping process at one point or another, but imagine losing well into five figures worth of really, really good stuff.
The nightmare happened to one man in Palm Beach, Florida who used a well-known company to ship a package of vintage baseball cards he was planning to have appraised. He saw his damaged shipment come back to him–with some of the expensive cardboard nowhere to be found.
60 year-old Richard Fasanella claims a package of 102 cards he shipped to Beckett Grading Services on Feb. 13 wound up being opened. In the lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, Fasanella claims 36 cards were missing. He is seeking at least $50,000 in damages, claiming FedEx employees stole the cards.
Update: The case was sent to US District court, but closed and returned to Palm Beach County Circuit Civil Court where the case was re-opened in early January of 2008.
