Collectable.com, which offers an app that offers sports collectors the ability to view and search major auctions from their smartphone, has purchased Elite Cards, a mobile-oriented, real-time price guide for sports cards.
Collectable founder and CEO David Yoken believes the acquisition will help collectors gather vital information about pricing on vintage and modern sports cards more easily.
“When we do integrate the product into our app, users will be able to access historical pricing data and records on past card and memorabilia sales from eBay and the auction houses,” he told us.
Ryan Hoge, founder of Elite Cards, will become Chief Technology Officer at Collectable and lead the efforts to grow the company’s engineering team and roadmap.
Collectable, which is a free download, provides users the ability to view, search, and track auctions from 22 memorabilia auction companies from their phone or tablet. Users can view current bids, follow links to specific items at auction and create wish lists for notification when a matching item comes up for sale. The pricing information will supplement those already existing tools.
“With nearly 4,000 users, the Collectable app has been tremendously well received by the sports collector community,” Yoken stated. “One of the top things our users have been asking for is access to historical pricing. With this acquisition, we are excited to soon offer this feature to our users.”
Both apps launched late last year.
