Vintage caramel cards have gained new respect in the last few years. A Williams Cobb is headed for a new home after it’s relist found a willing buyer.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again. A turn-of-the-century E103 Williams Caramel Ty Cobb card listed earlier this month didn’t reach a reserve of nearly $11,000. Re-listed last week, it sold over the weekend for $9990.00. The original listing attained a top bid of $7500.
The Cobb card was graded PSA 4 (VG-EX) with corner wear, but no creases by a Boston-based seller.
The 1910 issue contained 30 cards, including several players who would become Hall of Famers and was distributed by the Williams Caramel Company of Oxford, PA. The cards are printed on thin paper stock.
