Topps sent out some images of Houston Astros rookie sensation Carlos Correa visiting its offices on Tuesday but it wasn’t just a quick meeting to get his autograph on a few cards.
Correa was there to sign an exclusive contract with the company.
Correa’s autographed memorabilia will be sold exclusively through Topps, which is a first-of-its-kind deal for the company. In addition, autographed trading cards of Correa will be found only in Topps products, including its Topps BUNT digital app.
The deal will pay Correa “seven figures” according to his marketing representative and Topps officials.
The rookie from Puerto Rico has belted 15 homers, driven in 43 runs and stolen 11 bases in 68 major league games this season.
“I’m thrilled to join the Topps family,” Correa said. “I can’t be happier about partnering with a company like Topps for my first major deal as a big leaguer.”
Glad to inform that #TeamCorrea is part of the @toppscards family! Looking forward to great things for the fans⚾️ pic.twitter.com/Qj9R1JPgOR

His autographs, which will be in the upcoming 2015 Bowman Chrome product, are changing a bit as well.
We had @TeamCJCorrea stop by today … And, yes, that is a card that is going into 2015 Bowman Chrome. Thanks Carlos! pic.twitter.com/hvl0aNgnsT

You can see how he’s signed over the past couple of years via these autographed cards on eBay.
“Carlos Correa is an outstanding talent who only seems to get better with every game that he plays,” said David Leiner, VP & General Manager of North American Sports and Entertainment for Topps. “We are excited to partner with an athlete who embodies our brand both on and off the field.”
The deal to sell autographed player memorabilia is a first for Topps. It will include Correa autographed cards, jerseys, bats, baseballs, and wall art. You can see what’s available on the company’s website.
