It’s not every day you can buy a card of a grandfather and grandson that are part of the same baseball card issue, but the Topps Living Set is sort of built for those sly bits of marketing.
The ongoing weekly releases of fresh cards based on the classic 1953 Topps set continued during the holidays with Wednesday’s release of two new players: Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski and his grandson, San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski.
Artist Meyumi Seto continues to paint the original works, which are based on photos. They’re then turned into the Living Set cards, which are printed on 16-pt card stock. This week’s cards push the set’s checklist to 218 since it was introduced in March of 2018.
As usual, the cards are only available for a week. The two Yaz cards are only being offered in a two-card bundle for $11.99. If you’re willing to wait a few extra days to get them, eBay dealers also have some of each.
