The St. Louis Cardinals’ ‘winter warm up’ is always a hot ticket. Now that they’re the World Series champs, fans and collectors can barely contain themselves.
Prior to the start of the 2006 season, you could buy a ticket to a weekday Cardinals game for around $10-15 on eBay even though the new Busch Stadium was essentially sold out for the year. With the World Series trophy resting in St. Louis, adult tickets for the team’s off-season fan fest are now going for up to $150.
Aside from the requisite kids games, for collectors this weekend’s event is part card show, part auction and part autograph session. World Series MVP David Eckstein signed autographs at $90 a pop.
Scott Rolen appeared as did Albert Pujols, who’s leaving on a medical mission to help kids in his native Dominican Republic.
Proceeds from the Saturday/Sunday/Monday event benefit Cardinals care, the team’s community foundation supporting kids.
