Orange County, California authorities are investigating a burglary at the home of 1973 Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL running back John Cappelletti.
Among the missing items were Cappelletti’s Heisman ring, his 1973 National Championship ring from Penn State, a 1972 Cotton Bowl watch, 1974 Orange Bowl watch and a 1979 L.A. Rams NFC Championship ring.
It’s believed the burglary occurred around January 20.
“He said he noticed one item was missing and then noticed other items were missing recently,” Jim Amormino, spokesperson for the department.. “While we cannot be specific about the items that were stolen, I can say that they are related to his time spent at Penn State and when he played for the Rams.”
Cappelletti released a statement through the department that said, “Many of the items are irreplaceable and personal.”
Later, he talked with KNBC-TV is Los Angeles about the theft.
