Caitlin Clark Graded Card Numbers Explode

The new NIL rules that allowed college athletes to appear on packaged trading cards came at the right time for Caitlin Clark. 

Iowa’s National Player of the Year has been a big draw on TV—and in the trading card market, something that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago.

Just ahead of Sunday’s NCAA Women’s Championship game, data from PSA showed collectors and dealers haven’t been shy about submitting the future WNBA draft pick’s cards for grading.

Since the start of the 2023-24 season, the number of Clark cards graded has exploded.  In March, PSA graded 4,209 of them, eight times as many that were graded during in November, when Iowa’s season got underway.

Clark’s first pack pulled cards arrived inside Bowman University Basketball in early June of last year and that’s when the numbers began to tick upward. 2023-24 Bowman University Chrome was released in January. Clark has also appeared on other Bowman U branded products and her record setting performances have been featured on Topps’ Bowman NOW on-demand cards.

Clark’s future issues will be released through Panini, which signed her to a new, exclusive partnership last month.

The NCAA championship game was Clark’s last as a college player. She’s declared for next Tuesday’s WNBA Draft and is expected to be the number one pick by the Indiana Fever.
