Up and coming basketball players and another post-season football release arrived Wednesday but there’s plenty more where that came from. The March sports card release calendar is heating up with a big supply of new products arriving on the market.
On Wednesday, Panini’s 2023-24 Donruss Elite Basketball brought a new Victor Wembanyama chase. The league’s shoo-in Rookie of the Year has multiple cards, including base cards, base parallels and inserts like Craftsmen and Full Throttle. Several had sold and a few dozen others had already been listed on eBay by Wednesday afternoon.
A typical box will have two autographs, ten inserts or insert parallels and a group of base or base parallels featuring veterans and rookies.
Elite Hobby boxes carry six packs, with eight cards per pack. $310-$350 seems to be the going rate.
Also being ripped at the moment–2023-24 Bowman University Best Basketball.
There are box ‘Breaker’s Delight’ (three autographs) and standard Hobby boxes (four autos) being released, with the content centered around current college players. There are over a dozen Caitlin Clark cards in the product between base, inserts and autographs…and there’s a Clark-Angel Reese dual auto.
Upper Deck’s deal with the PGA Tour has brought a fresh flagship golf product to market for the first time in 20 years. 2024 UD Golf brings the chance for Tiger Woods cards–and how could you resist the chance to land one of these….
Upper Deck has produced blaster boxes, tins and regular Hobby boxes that are fairly reasonably priced. Autographs won’t be easy to pull, though.
Upper Deck Golf is the first of four golf releases planned this year. Others include: SP Game-Used, Upper Deck Portfolio and Fleer Ultra.
The fourth release on Wednesday was 2023 Panini Illusions Football. Hobby boxes have ten packs, with five cards per pack.
Panini is promising three autographs and two memorabilia cards per box, along with five numbered Trophy Collection Parallels. Other highlights include 10 acetates of micro-etched inserts or parallels. Rookie cards of CJ Stroud are among the big draws.
Boxes are currently available in the $375-$400 range.

2023 Panini Limited Football
If you can’t get enough 2023 NFL releases, there’s another on the way. 2023 Panini Limited boxes offer three packs, with five cards per pack. Of the 15 cards, there are two autos and one memorabilia card.
The Limited Gamers game-worn memorabilia insert returns, featuring the exact date and game the selected memorabilia was worn. Look for the usual array of booklet cards as well.
Expect to fork over several hundred dollars for this one. There’s a First Off The Line version with exclusive content.
2024 Topps Archives Signature Series Baseball
Signature Series returns with one pack boxes carrying a single buyback Topps card of an active player that’s now been signed and foil stamped. The cards will come in a sealed plastic case.
All cards will be numbered to 99 or less.
Boxes are online for $85.
Also due for release on 3/20: 2024 Topps Chrome UFC, 2022-23 Parkhurst Champions Hockey.
