The next Giannis Antetokounmpo card will be distributed by…Milwaukee police officers.
As part of the new joint community platform, Daktronics will produce Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Police Department co-branded Bucks trading cards for distribution to kids in the area.
Each set of Bucks cards contains 15 players in a co-branded Bucks and MPD package. Daktronics has pledged to create 10,000 packages, all of which will be donated to the Milwaukee Police Department for use in community outreach efforts.
The set includes Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Rookie of the Year candidate Malcolm Brogdon and 12 other cards.
“The Milwaukee Police Department is excited to partner with the Milwaukee Bucks and Daktronics to provide basketball cards to local youth,” Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn said. “This program will help further strengthen MPD’s bond with the community and provide an outreach tool to those we serve.”
Milwaukee and Wisconsin were hotbeds of “police sets” from the 1980s-2000s with Brewers and Packers sets and single cards handed out by officers. Many of those sets also made their way into the hobby.
Daktronics, which also makes scoreboards, is donating six of them for local schools and youth centers as part of the partnership.
