Upper Deck has signed hockey legend Bobby Orr to a new autographed memorabilia deal.
Orr scored 270 goals in 657 NHL games with the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks in a 12-year career, leading the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Final three times and winning it in 1970 and 1972. A three-time league MVP who was named the NHL’s best defenseman for a record eight times, Orr was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
“Bobby Orr is an icon in the hockey world,” said Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck. “He fits perfectly alongside the company’s roster of all-time greats, including Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Patrick Roy and Serena Williams.”
Among the items Orr has done for Upper Deck is a three-foot square ‘Tegata’ framed collage, inspired by a Japanese style of art featuring an athlete’s actual handprint as the centerpiece, along with an autograph. Orr and Upper Deck completed 50 of them, which are priced at $14,999 on the company’s new Orr page.
Other signed items start at $1,299. Autographed jerseys are $1,799.
Upper Deck also plans multi-signed pieces autographed by Orr and other NHL greats, which will release later this year.
