A collection of memorabilia associated with the career of the late Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull is on the block in the latest edition of Classic Auctions’ Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia sale.
The auction includes over 1,000 lots ranging from vintage cards to current era game-worn jerseys.
There are 43 lots of Hull memorabilia, highlighted by a 1969-70 game-worn and autographed Chicago Black Hawks jersey with multiple photo matches.
Numerous career milestone goal pucks and a 1968-69 game-used “banana hook” stick are also among the listings.
A trio of Stanley Cup rings—complete with their presentation boxes—from Montreal Canadiens star Mario Tremblay are also featured. Among them are the 1978 ring he helped the Habs secure with a game-winning goal in Game 6, along with those from the 1976-77 and 1978-79 Cup victories.
In addition to Tremblay’s Cup rings, there is a 1997-98 Chicago Bulls NBA championship ring from a team personnel member, complete with 75 diamonds.
Rare hockey cards are always part of Classic events and this one is no different with a 1924-25 Champs Cigarettes (C144) complete 60-card set leading the way. The challenging set that features several early pro hockey legends includes 20 graded cards and even an original package.
Collectors will also find a complete 1910-11 and 1912-13 Imperial Tobacco sets and a near set of the 1911-12 issue. Spanning the history of hockey greats, the auction also has a 1923-24 William Paterson Howie Morenz rookie card (PSA 4) and a PSA 8 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky rookie card.
Baseball card collectors will see a partial set of 1948-49 Leaf including the Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth cards.
The auction will offer a huge array of significant game-worn jerseys —three from the Ray Bourque Collection– including the one he wore during the 1997 All-Star Game, a 1997-98 Boston Bruins model and another from his days with the Colorado Avalanche in 2000-01 as well as Patrick Roy and Mario Lemieux gamers he obtained during his days on the ice. There’s a 1989-90 Cam Neely Bruins jersey, patched for potential use in the Stanley Cup Final.
Thirteen items from the collection of former Formula 1 star Jacques Villeneuve are featured as well, encompassing autographed race-worn suits and helmets, one of the latter from his 1997 championship season.
