In the wee hours of Wednesday, Sheriff’s officers in White Plains, New York responded to an alarm at BC Sports Cards located at 10561 Theodore Green Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front glass door had been shattered and items taken from the store were laying on the ground in front of the store. They also found blood at the scene.
While officers were canvassing the area, a call was dispatched for an injured person at the White Plains Dash In. Officers responded and found the injured person, Derrick Harvey Tolson, 18, of Indian Head, in possession of property stolen from BC Sports Cards. Investigation revealed he was also in possession of property stolen from numerous vehicles in an incident officers investigated earlier that morning in the parking lots of two other area businesses. Officer M. O’Shields, who had been at the scene of a burglary at Mercantile Bank, recognized Tolson as the suspect caught on bank surveillance cameras.
Tolson was initially charged with second-degree burglary, theft valued at less than $500 and destruction of property valued at more than $500. He had minor injuries and was treated on the scene by emergency medical services personnel. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Charges against him for the bank burglary are pending.
