Panini America is tipping off its basketball card line by bringing two high profile NBA rookies to the National Sports Collectors Convention this weekend.
Number one draft pick Blake Griffin and future Indiana Pacers’ forward Tyler Hansbrough will be signing free autographs at the Panini America (Donruss) corporate booth at the National Sports Collectors Convention. Panini will be handing out coupons throughout the week, allowing collectors the chance to meet the NBA Draft Picks on Saturday and Sunday.
Hansbrough is schedule to appear Saturday (from 12 to 2 pm), while NCAA Player of the Year Griffin is scheduled to appear Sunday (from 11 to 1 pm).
The players will only sign special basketball cards created especially for the event.
“This is a big event for collectors, so we’re excited to have these two future superstars signing at our first National as Panini,” said Marketing Manager Scott Prusha. “Since the autographs will be free to collectors, this is a great way to show collectors the impact we are going to make in basketball."
Panini purchased Donruss Trading Cards earlier this year and was awarded the exclusive license to produce NBA trading cards beginning next season.
The 30th National Sports Collectors Convention will be held July 29-August 2, 2009 at the International Exposition (I-X) Center in Cleveland OH.
