No, we haven’t checked. But if anyone else has paid more than $8800 for a 1973 OPC Rich Gossage rookie, you’ll have to prove it.
A pair of 1970s OPC rookie cards grabbed some serious cash on eBay over the weekend..both purchased by the same buyer.
A 1973 OPC Rich Gossage card, graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA sold for $8865, while a PSA 10 1976 OPC Ron Guidry rookie went for $7069…likely a very nice profit for the California-based seller.
Bidding on the Gossage jumped from $550 to the winning bid in the final seconds of the auction thanks to snipes placed by competing bidders. The Guidry jumped from just over $800 to over $7000 in the final seconds.
For those who may not be aware, OPC cards are the Canadian-printed counterparts to Topps cards. Most of the cards in this era were made using the same pictures as their American cousins, but OPC was printed in much smaller quantities.
