Like a ship in a bottle, a long-ago autograph request washed ashore at the home of it’s sender this week. It may not be a record for turnaround time, but it has to be close.
Journeyman pitcher Don Carman had been clearing out his garage in Florida when he came across a box of 200 or so fan letters he’d gotten in the mail during his career but never answered.
Carman, long-since retired, dutifully answered them, including the one from the class project young Doug had been participating in during the Presidency of George H.W. Bush.
