Some decades-old memories are up for bid in a Massachusetts estate sale.
A collection of baseball memorabilia from the estate of former Boston Braves batboy Sammy Howard will be included in John McInnis Auctioneers’ spring auction set for Saturday, May 9 in Amesbury, MA.
The collection consists of game programs, scorecards and autographs Howard collected at a batboy for the Braves during the 1940s. Many of the items obtained by Howard were signed by the players of that era. Several Red Sox programs, scorecards and other memorabilia are also included in the auction.
Among the highlights is a 1948 Braves-Indians World Series program signed by boxing champion Joe Louis, who attended one of the games and multiple other Series programs, including several from the 1940s.
The baseball items are part of a 600+ lot antique and collectibles auction conducted live at the company’s offices and online.
