Young running backs have been dominating the list of most popular eBay searches since the end of the 2017 NFL season. The company recently released search and sales data ahead of the 2018 regular season that offers some insight on what users are typing into their search boxes. While the data includes things like jerseys and team apparel in addition to cards and memorabilia, it provides a fairly valuable glimpse at the players and teams that are most popular among buyers.
New York Giants rookie Saquon Barkley is tops on the list of the players that collectors and fans have been looking for over the last several months. Barkley’s earliest rookie cards have been strong sellers online and in stores. Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys holds down the number two ranking among player searches, followed by Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints, Kareem Hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs, Leonard Fournette of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers.
Veteran receivers finally crack the list at numbers 7-10 with Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, Steelers star Antonio Brown and Giants’ wideout Odell Beckham joining Vikings running back Dalvin Cook rounding it out.
eBay also took a look at the biggest selling NFL teams over a recently concluded six-month period. Not surprisingly, the Cowboys topped the list with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles second. The Steelers were third, followed by the Patriots, Packers, Raiders, Bears, Giants, 49ers and Broncos.
The Cowboys also topped the ‘most searched’ list, with Green Bay second, Philadelphia third, Chicago fourth and Oakland fifth. Somewhat surprisingly, the Cleveland Browns ranked sixth, followed by Denver, Pittsburgh, New England and Miami.
Last in searches and sales? The Chargers, who haven’t yet captured the hearts of the Los Angeles market since abandoning San Diego prior to the 2017 season.
