It saw thousands of haircuts and drew a little reaction form the customers, but the story behind an old curved stick could make it one valuable piece of wood.
A sports collector visiting in-laws in a small Nova Scotia town learned about an old, curved stick hanging on the wall of the local barber shop. For eight years Mark Presley kept tabs on it.
Then the barber decided to retire and Presley made his offer. Now able to research the history of the piece, he caught a break when he had a chance to interview its original owner, someone who could trace its history back over 140 years.
The game may not have yet evolved into hockey, but Presley believes the stick is part of the evolutionary process.
