The NFL season will be just a memory when 2016 Panini Select Football hits hobby shops. Due out February 22, Wednesday’s preview material confirmed the brand’s return after a one-year hiatus and slight makeover.
2016 Panini Select Basics
It’ll be a Chromium stock product with five cards per pack and 12 packs per box. Each box should have two autographs, one memorabilia card and 14 Prizms, at least three of which will be serial numbered. There’s no word yet on a box price.
While rookie cards will be the primary draw, Panini says you can expect autographed relic cards from 50 veterans and retired stars when the checklist arrives.
Base Set
The Select base set will be a whopping 300 cards, but it will be divided into three tiers: Concourse, Premier and Field Level, with some likely harder to get than others. There will be a unique set of colors to collect for each respective subset. The Tie-Dye Prizms in the Concourse tier look interesting and are numbered to 25. Die-cut parallels of the Premier tier are numbered to just 10 while Black Prizm Field Level cards are 1/1.
The Hits
There will be autographed memorabilia cards of the 2016 Rookie Class, #’d/99 or less with Jumbo Rookie Signature Swatches as well as Tie Dye and Gold Prizms numbered to 25 and 10, respectively. Panini says there will be multiple color variations including Copper, Purple, Orange, Tie-Dye, Gold and Black .
Oversize memorabilia cards will be among the big hits. Look for Nameplates, Brand Logos, Nike Laundry Tags and NFL Shields to be some of the major pulls. The Prime Selections Black Prizm NFL Shields are 1/1 as are the Jumbo Rookie Swatch Black Prizm logos.
One interesting bonus in 2016 Panini Select football will be the one-per-box redemption cards that will feature members of the upcoming NFL Draft class.
