You may have a Derek Jeter autograph.
You probably don’t have a Derek Jeter autographed Ford Mustang.
A one-of-a-kind 2010 Ford Mustang GT, given away at the start of the season to commemorate the Yankees’ first season in their new stadium, is now on the market.
Pleasant Valley, New York’s United Country Absolute Auction & Realty is conducting the online auction of the car, which bears Yankee pinstripes and a Derek Jeter autograph on the dashboard.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind commemorative collector car," said auctioneer Rob Doyle. The current high bid is over $28,000. When the car was given away through Tri-State auto dealers in Ford’s Drive One Home Sweepstakes, the value was placed at over $42,000.
The drawing for the car took place in September and won by Gary Martin of Westhampton Beach, NY.
The car has less than 1,000 miles on the odometer and comes complete with all paperwork validating its authenticity and copies of the publicity pictures. In addition to the signature Yankees pinstripe paint job and logo, the Mustang has a 4.6L V-8 engine, an automatic transmission, interior blue lighting throughout, 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, convertible top, leather interior, Shaker 500 AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo system, anti-lock brakes with traction control, Ford cold air induction system, side airbags, and power seats.
"The original winner of the vehicle, a lifetime Yankees fan, has commissioned us to auction the car so that he can put the proceeds towards the education of his children," Doyle explained. "This is the investment opportunity of a lifetime for sports memorabilia collectors and Yankees fans alike. There is no duplicate to this car. There is only one."
The online only auction ends Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 8pm eastern time.
