The Babe Ruth bat that sold for a record $1.85 million in April is going on display.
Hunt Auctions, which brokered the private treaty sale says it’ll be traveling to MLB’s Play Ball Park (FanFest) during All-Star week in Seattle, July 8-11.
It’ll share space with items from the annual auction that’s held the morning of the game.
The bat has been photomatched to a 1921 photo and is the only known example from game use by Ruth. It had once been displayed at the Polo Grounds in the early 1940s, along with others once swung by baseball legends. The bats were auctioned for charity.
The bat carries a GU10 rating from PSA/DNA.

He recently pulled a card of ….teammate Anthony Volpe.
From The Athletic: “Yankees starter Nestor Cortes, who’s an avid card collector, routinely sits at his locker before games with a box cutter and opens packages of cards. Cortes has stacks of different baseball cards piled high and has a few valuable ones in his collection, like a 1-of-1 autographed Shohei Ohtani card. Recently at his locker, Cortes pulled an Anthony Volpe 1-of-1 Topps Elements of Excellence Super Auto from Bowman’s Best.”

Upper Deck has a new deal to produce a series of “value-notes,” memorabilia, with Wayne Gretzky set to be the first subject in a series of seven that will be issued over the next seven years.
The items are reminiscent of a commemorative banknote. Gretzky will not only have his name and image featured on the first one in the series but will be an ambassador for the product.
He’ll headline the release event in Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon that will be broadcast live on YouTube.
The series is part of Upper Deck’s new multi-year deal with Top Legends, which is behind the notes.
“Working with Top Legends is an opportunity to create a premium, quality limited-edition collectible for the millions of Wayne Gretzky fans worldwide,” said Jason Masherah, president of Upper Deck. “As we continue to explore new ways to celebrate one of the greatest hockey players of all-time, this collaboration holds immense promise.”
The Gretzky notes will be available on TopLegends.com and through select retailers in the rare coin and currency markets. The initial pricing is planned at $440.
