Twenty members of the 1996 Stanley Cup were honored during the Avs’ 15th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup Reunion ceremony last week. Now, the jerseys those players wore that night are going on the auction block for a children’s charitable organization.
Each jersey has the 1995-96 Stanley Cup patch and the 15th Anniversary Reunion patch sewn onto the front of the jersey. Each player signed his jersey immediately after the on-ice ceremony. Jerseys available include Patrick Roy, Peter Forsberg, Claude LeMieux and Joe Sakic.
Kroenke Sports Charities supports children and families throughout Colorado. The organization uses its resources to help fill the needs of many through support of education, health and recreation initiatives including appearances and sports clinics by players, coaches and alumni; donations of autographed merchandise and tickets. Proceeds from the jersey auction will provide health, education, literacy and fitness programs for thousands of children in Colorado.
The MeiGray Group directs the NHL-MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program and markets the 2010-11 game-worn jerseys for the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, and Washington Capitals.
MeiGray will provide authentication for the Avalanche reunion jerseys, which are being sold here.
