Finding autographed Steph Curry memorabilia just got easier. The 2015 NBA MVP has signed a deal with Fanatics Authentic that will bring dozens of items into the company’s inventory after the first of several private signing sessions with the Golden State Warriors star took place. There was no word what Curry will be paid.
Steph Curry Autographed Memorabilia in Demand
Steph Curry autographed pictures, signed jerseys, basketballs, shoes and other memorabilia have been added to the Fanatics website, with more to come. Unsigned items are also being offered–obviously at lower prices.
Fanatics will also offer game-used items as part of the contract with Curry, who has developed into a major marketing force since blossoming into a clutch shooter and NBA champion. The company says demand for Curry material is “at an all time high.”
“Stephen Curry is not only one of the best players in basketball, but also an extraordinary individual, and we are extremely proud to add him to the Fanatics exclusive athlete roster,” said Ross Tannenbaum, President of Fanatics Authentic. “We are excited to offer fans a one-of-a-kind selection as Curry embarks on some of the most exciting years of his career.”
Curry’s basketball cards have soared in price over the last ten months with Panini handling the NBA’s exclusive trading card license.
Signing Machine
According to ESPN, Curry insisted on being able to sign as many free autographs as he likes for fans who ask before agreeing to the deal with Fanatics. And as you can see in the video below, some can be very creative in the attempt, which Curry appreciates.
However, most fans who want an autograph may not be quite so lucky and you’ll likely get a better looking signature and a better quality item if you order one. Players sit down during the signing sessions in what’s generally a controlled atmosphere.
“I chose to partner with Fanatics because not only are they the best in the business, but they’re also the most credible source for autographed memorabilia,” said Curry in a news release. “They understand what my fans are looking for and, like me, are always striving to be great.”
All Warriors rookie cards and memorabilia have been rising since the team’s turnaround under coach Steve Kerr.
Other players who’ve chosen to sign with Fanatics include Boston Red Sox first baseman David Ortiz, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Curry’s fellow Golden State teammate and All-Star Klay Thompson also has a partnership with the company.
Update (2/24/16): Demand and the Warriors’ record-threatening start in 2016 resulted in another signing session.
