Sporting News Manager of the Year Don Mattingly is spending part of his off-season signing more Topps Project 2020 cards that are being sold online to raise money for youth programs in his hometown.
Mattingly Charities, based in Evansville, IN, released a group of signed cards from Project 2020 artist Oldmanalan on its eBay page Tuesday. The cards are priced at $59 and there are others with various inscriptions that are being sold in an auction format.
Over the last few months, Mattingly has inked hundreds of newly-released on-demand cards from Topps as a fundraiser. The Project 2020 cards have had the seals removed to allow for Mattingly to sign them, then resealed. The cards are delivered to buyers with a COA from Mattingly Charities with the original Project 2020 packaging.
In addition to the cards released Tuesday, there are still some Mattingly autographed Project 2020 cards featuring the artwork of Andrew Thiele available for $75.
Mattingly Charities provides support to organizations who administer educational advancement, social development, and athletic programs for underserved youth.
