Beyond The Dugout has once again partnered with Chad Reineke of the Cincinnati Reds to sponsor the 2013 Baseball Battle Gear Charity Auction benefitting Wounded Warrior Project.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Chad and his Reds’ teammates to manage such a worthwhile event,” said president Matthew Elliott. “Last year’s auction raised almost $4,000 for Wounded Warrior, and we hope to continue this level of success and exceed last year’s donation. This year’s auction will include 20-30 game used items from both the Reds and players with other organizations who learned of our event and asked to participate.”
Among the items already received for this year’s auction are game used bats from Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, and Ryan Ludwick, among others; game used fielders gloves from Bronson Arroyo, Sean Marshall, and Mat Latos, among others; and game used spikes from Aroldis Chapman and Reds’ top prospect Billy Hamilton, among others. The list of players contributing to this year’s event, in addition to those mentioned above, includes: Devin Mesaraco (bat), Corky Miller (bat), Jack Hannahan (bat), Todd Frazier (bat), Chris Heisey (spikes), Zack Cozart (spikes), Tony Cingrani (spikes), Logan Ondrusek (spikes), Sam Lecure (spikes), J.J. Hoover (glove), and Nick Masset (glove). Additional items may be added.
This year’s auction will begin at 5:00 PM EST today on eBay and will run for ten days, ending April 11. Items will be placed for auction in fifteen minute increments to allow bidders the chance to follow multiple items without overlap. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Wounded Warrior via eBay’s Giving Works partnership with MissionFish.
