The sports memorabilia industry goes prime time later this month when Discovery Channel launches its new show “All Star Dealers”, a reality-type show centered around the doings of Grey Flannel Auctions.
The network released a couple of video clips from upcoming shows on Thursday.
Premiering January 24 at 9 p.m. eastern time, the show bills itself as “SportsCenter meets CSI as the Grey Flannel team uses detailed investigation methods and state-of-the-art tools to determine what items are the real deal”.
“Sports is more than just what happens on the field, it is rich with emotion and history,” said Nancy Daniels, Executive Vice President of Productions and Development for Discovery Channel. “All Star Dealers opens the door into the world of incredible sports memorabilia where every stitch and smudge tells a story, raising the stakes for buyer and seller alike.”
The show clips released this week show Grey Flannel going through boxes ostensibly received from consignors, hoping to find items suitable for the company’s online auctions.
The other clip shows Russek visiting with Dennis Rodman, who discusses some of the items from his colorful career as they are prepared for sale.
