You’ve seen his cards in various trading card issues over the last few years. Now you can meet the man who created them.
Sports artist Brian Kong, best known for his work on the Topps, Leaf and In The Game sports properties will be appearing at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago July 31-August 4.
Kong will be at booth #787, offering limited edition cards of Yasiel Puig, Bryce Harper, Matt Harvey, Mike Trout, and Manny Machado available only at the show. Collectors can bring their sketch featuring his artwork to be signed free of charge.
The New York resident will be accepting on-site sketch card commissions, doing some on-site sketching, giving away cards featuring some of his work, signing some of the cards that he created for national distribution over the last several years and talking with collectors about his work.
Most recently Kong was one of the featured artists in Beckett Magazine’s Art issue and was also voted as one of the hobby’s top fan favorite sketch card artists.
Kong’s projects have included 2013 Leaf: Best of Hockey, 2012 Best of Football, the 2012 Legends of Wrestling, Topps 2013 & 2012 Allen & Ginter ‘Rip’ sketch cards, 2009 Allen & Ginter ” Highlights”, 2010 Chicle Baseball, 2010 Chicle Football and In The Game’s 10th anniversary Ultimate Hockey set.
While at the All Star Fan Fest in New York City earlier this month, Kong debuted his MLB licensed children’s book, Trolley Dodgers, Pinstriped Yankees and Wearing Red Sox: How MLB Teams Got Their Name, which he illustrated and co-produced.
He has additionally been featured on various non-sports products as well and has also produced over 25 custom comic books for MLB & NBA franchises as promotional items for their sports stadiums and arenas.
