Kareem Abdul-Jabbar may not be tossing down skyhooks anymore, but he’s a busy guy. Tuesday night, he guest starred on the new Fox series New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel. Today, his lawyers will head back to court and Kareem will be all ears as he battles The Upper Deck Company over the use of a photo in one of their 2010 trading card releases.
The trial is set to begin on Thursday in southern California, but attorneys have been in full smack talk mode for awhile now. Before jury selection, hearings are being held with Upper Deck claiming Tuesday that Abdul-Jabbar’s lawyers are falsely claiming that its COO, Richard McWilliam, showed up to a deposition in an impaired state. Upper Deck says they knew that would get media attention.
Attorney Paul Lesko believes it’s likely the fireworks are just beginning.
