The money being spent on Aaron Judge baseball cards this year has been staggering (over $2 million in graded cards alone on eBay over the last three months) but early Sunday, a new mark was set for a Judge item.
Steiner Auctions sold Judge’s first Yankee jersey for $160,644 in its summer auction.
The jersey is one Judge donned in his major league debut in August of last year. It’s the most ever paid for a jersey worn by an athlete in any American sport over the last 15 years and more than some have paid in recent years for game-worn jerseys from Michael Jordan, Willie Mays, Ernie Banks and Wayne Gretzky.
There were 22 bids and over 13,000 views on the jersey worn by Judge when he smashed a home run in his first MLB at-bat.
Steiner also sold the jersey Judge wore on Father’s Day for $23,597 and last month, the company also sold the jersey from his first grand slam for $45,578.
An eBay seller has listed a jersey judge wore early in his college career at Fresno State.
A total of more than $1 million in winning bids was collected on 1,006 memorabilia pieces offered in the auction.
