Hank Bauer played the outfield alongside Joe DiMaggio and later, Mickey Mantle. He was part of a baseball dynasty that dominated October from the late 1940s to the early-1960s.
But those heroics were nothing compared to what he'd already done. A marine with a crew cut then and now, Bauer is still a fixture in Kansas City, where he still answers several dozen autograph requests each month.
