An Iowa sports card shop lost thousands of dollars to a burglar Saturday afternoon—a crime that happened in broad daylight.
Des Moines Police say a man wearing a black coat and blue jeans kicked and pried open the locked door to Chuck’s Sports Cards around 4:30 PM, raced inside grabbed numerous valuable cards before running out. A witness saw it happen and called police.
Police say there were cards scattered on the ground and the business alarm was sounding when officers arrived.
Store owner Chuck Colbert says he believes the suspect knew what he was looking for. Several expensive baseball cards were among those taken from glass displays inside the shop, according to a police report.

Chucks carries both vintage and modern cards. He also sells through an eBay store.
The thief got away with dozens of cards worth around $10,000 but a full inventory of the missing cards is still being compiled.
No one has been arrested yet.
