Two down, two to go in Upper Deck’s special Exquisite promotion that has collectors flying in to build their own box.
When Michael DeRose first heard about Upper Deck’s Exquisite Experience promotion, he immediately started thinking, “What if?”
What would he do if he won the opportunity to build his own box of 2007-08 NBA Exquisite? What would he do if he pulled one of the cards? Then he opened up a pack of 2007-08 NBA UD Premier and he didn’t have to think about “What if?” anymore. He saw that golden ticket shining in his hands.
“It’s crazy,” said DeRose. “The night before I opened the box I was telling my girlfriend about this promotion and if I ever pulled it, I would have to sing the ‘I got a golden ticket’ song.”
DeRose pulled the card from a purchase made at Showtime Cards in Tempe, Ariz., where he’s been experiencing lots of luck lately with Upper Deck products. “This is the same store where I pulled my Black Kobe Bryant/Yao Ming dual autograph card. I bought a case of 2007 UD Premier Baseball here and it had a Pujols Logoman and Ruth quad game-used bat card numbered 3/12. Just two days earlier, I opened a pack of Premier Basketball that had a LeBron autograph. But I never really thought I would get one of the golden tickets.”
One Upper Deck “Exquisite Experience” golden ticket was inserted into each of the following four products: 2007-08 NBA SP Authentic, 2007-08 NBA UD Black, 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Edition and 2007-08 NBA UD Premier.
Instead of selling his instant win card, DeRose has registered his golden ticket with Upper Deck and will now receive round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations to Dallas, where he will meet members of the Upper Deck staff responsible for creating 2007-08 NBA Exquisite at a welcome dinner. The next day he will be taken to the production facility where he will receive a behind-the-scenes tour, background information on the fifth release and get a chance to build and keep his own custom 2007-08 Exquisite box.
“This is a really great way to celebrate the five-year anniversary of a product line that basically revolutionized the hobby,” said Chris Kollmeyer, Upper Deck’s Basketball brand manager. “We’ve come a long way since that first release of NBA Exquisite and these lucky collectors will get the opportunity to be the first to see just how exciting 2007-08 NBA Exquisite will be."
Upper Deck says wo golden tickets remain for the “Exquisite Experience,” one in 2007-08 NBA UD Black and the other in 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Edition.
