He didn’t win the MVP award, but Jayson Tatum’s jersey was the top seller in the first auction of 2024 NBA Finals jerseys.
Sotheby’s/NBA Auctions offered jerseys from the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks along with numerous other game-worn playoff items in an auction that ended Tuesday night. Tatum’s Game 2 jersey topped bidding at $108,000. He scored 18 points, had a game-high 12 assists and grabbed nine rebounds in the game that propelled the Celtics to a 105-98 win and a 2-0 series lead.
Tatum’s shorts from the same game sold for $3,840.
Finals MVP Jaylen Brown’s Game 2 jersey netted $60,000 in the auction while those worn by Derrick White ($22,800) and Kristaps Porzingis ($10,800) were also among those sold.
Luka Doncic’s jersey from Game 1–his first Finals appearance–sold for $50,400 including the 20% buyer’s premium tacked on to all winning bids.
Another donned by Minnesota Timberwolves rising star Anthony Edwards in ten playoff games, soared to $84,000. Edwards scored 40 or more points in three of those games.
LeBron James’ jersey worn in Games 1 and 4 of the Lakers’ first round loss to the Nuggets netted $50,400.
Others sold included playoff debut jerseys from Chet Holmgren ($26,400) and Paolo Banchero ($16,000).
More Finals and playoff jerseys will be sold later this month.
