Topps Tier One returns next month with big hits from big stars in a high-end format.
The 2023 version is expected to hit stores the week of Oct. 18, will feature two autographs and one memorabilia card in every hobby box, which will have one pack. Case hits will include on Tier One Autograph card and three additional relics.
There is no base set, and not surprisingly, autographs and relics will dominate the checklist.
Autographs
Most of the autograph cards feature parallels in Bronze Ink, numbered to 25; Silver Ink (10) and Gold Ink (1/1).
Tier One Autographs feature the best players in the game and are numbered to 199. The autographs are on-card signatures — no stickers.
Break Out Autographs showcase young, up-and-coming major league stars, including members of the 2023 rookie class. These cards are numbered to 299 or less and are also hard-signed.
Prime Performers have a lineup of modern-day greats and living legends. These cards also feature on-card signatures and are numbered to 299 or less.
Tier One Talent Autographs, also numbered to 299 or less, feature players and their elite skills. The cards are also hard-signed.
Next Level Autographs are numbered to 50 or less. These on-card signature, multi-level cards feature top MLB players.
Making its debut this year are Advanced Stats Autograph cards. These cards feature players who sit atop statistical rankings and are numbered to 50 or less. These are also hard-signed cards.
Topps Tier One also features Dual Autographs, numbered to 25 or less; and Triple Autographs, numbered to 10 or less. Both subsets have on-card autographs.
Clear Ones Autographs feature greats from the past and present on “Clear One technology.” The hard-signed cards are numbered to 10 or less. Dual Clear Ones Autographs, as the name implies, has two signatures on the card. These are also numbered to 10 of less.
Cut Signatures are 1/1 cards featuring 25 legends of MLB.
Relics
Memorabilia cards are plentiful in Topps Tier One.
Tier One Relics feature two different designs and are numbered to 399 or less. A Dual Patch parallel is numbered to 25, while a Triple Patch parallel is a 1/1 card.
Tier One Legends Relics are numbered to 199 or less. They also feature Dual Patch parallels (25) and 1/1 Dual Patch parallels.
Prodigious Patches give collectors jumbo uniform patches are numbered to 10. A Platinum parallel card is a 1/1 offering.
Tier One Uniform Button relics are numbered to 5 and also have a 1/1 Platinum parallel card.
Gripping Relics are numbered to 10 or less and feature jumbo pieces of game-used bat tape of some of MLB’s best hitters. There is also a 1/1 Platinum parallel.
Topps rounds of the relics with three 1/1 subsets: Tier One Bat Knobs, Tier One Limited Lumber and Tier One All-Star Patches.
The latter subset features patches from the 2021 MLB All-Star Game. Select players have 1/1 Autograph parallels.
Autograph Relics
Collectors will be able to chase several subsets that contain both an autograph and a relic in a variety of offerings.
Making its debut this year is Tier One Sluggers Triple Autograph Relics. These cards are numbered to 10 and feature top-tier hitters across all eras of the game. There is a Platinum parallel numbered 1/1.
Gripping Autographed Relics utilizes hitters’ game-used batting tapes and combines them with an on-card autograph. These are also numbered to 10 and have a 1/1 Platinum parallel.
Perfect Contact Autographed Bat Relics will have game-used bat slice memorabilia featuring some of the game’s best hitters. The autograph will be signed directly on the bat. These cards, numbered to 5, also have a 1/1 Platinum parallel.
Autographed Tier One Relics are numbered to 99 or less and also include a Dual Patch parallel numbered to 25 and a Triple Patch 1/1 parallel.
Tier One Relic Book cards are numbered to 10 and have a 1/1 Dual Patch parallel.
Autographed Prodigious Patches combines on-card autographs and jumbo uniform patches. The cards are numbered to 10 and have a 1/1 Platinum parallels.
Tier One Autographed Bat Knobs is a 1/1 offering that features an on-card autograph.
Tier One Autographed Limited Lumber also has on-card autographs and contains game-used bat pieces. These cards are also 1/1s.
Signature Tools Autograph Relics are 1/1s that feature an on-card autograph and also a piece of the pen used to sign the card.
Cut Signatures Relics are 1/1 cards that combine a cut signature from a legendary baseball player with game-used memorabilia.
