Higher end product releases always get our juices flowing, so when we got the new 2023 Panini Immaculate Collection Baseball cases in store, we were excited to open a box.
There’s just something special about opening a box of higher end cards. The look, the feel, the excitement and the anticipation is on another level. Immaculate definitely fits that bill.
Immaculate comes in a tin carrying one six-card presentation box/pack. If you prefer to leave the base cards at home, Immaculate is for you with four autographs and two memorabilia cards. Boxes are currently available at $300-$350 on eBay.
We sliced the cellophane off our box and dug into the orange tin to find our cardboard and sticker sealed pack.
The first card staring back at us as soon as we opened our box was a low numbered memorabilia card of Yankees sensation Jasson Dominguez number out of 25 copies.
This two color swatch is a beautiful way to start the box. Dominguez made his debut in the bigs this past month and immediately impressed with multiple home runs (he’s up to four bombs in only a handful of games). It’s always great to see a young hyped up talent make his mark in the league.
The second card in our box was a short trip down memory lane as we pulled in Immaculate Marks on card autograph of retired Atlanta Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal.
Furcal had a fine career, mostly playing in Atlanta. The auto got smudged a bit so that’s disappointing.
The next card up was our first RPA as we pulled a beautiful three card swatch and on card autograph of New York Mets top prospect Alex Ramirez number to 99 copies. The orange, white and blue Mets colors pop with the full signature of Ramirez found below.
The 20 year old prospect has shown promise with the Mets Single A affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones this season.
The next card in the pack got my Pittsburgh Pirates vintage juices flowing. We pulled a quad memorabilia card of Pirates greats Ralph Kiner, Bill Mazeroski, Arky Vaughn, and the unforgettable Roberto Clemente.
The first three legends offered bat pieces in their tiny square, but Clemente’s memorabilia was a piece of his uniform. Numbered to just 10 copies, this is a first ballot PC item for any real Buccos fan.
Our second RPA in the box was that of Philadelphia Phillies second base prospect Hao-Yu Lee. The autograph leaves a little bit (OK, alot) to be desired but it’s a nice two color patch found within the card.
Initially a Phillies prospect, Lee was traded to the Tigers in the Michael Lorenzen deal earlier this season. Lorenzen went on to throw a no-hitter for the Phillies in his first start.
The Pirates (and the rookies) kept coming as our next card was a triple relic of Pittsburgh Pirates 2021 number one overall draft pick catcher Henry Davis, numbered to 99 copies. Davis came up earlier this season like a ball of fire, but he has cooled as the season has progressed.
Davis has moved from catcher to right field for the most part with Austin Hedges and other veteran backstops on the roster. We’ll see where his career trajectory takes him. He’s an outstanding prospect and this card that has tons of potential, so there were no complaints when we found this one in our box.
That wraps up a really fun and potentially profitable box of Immaculate Baseball. At a price point right around $400 for six cards, this is for those with deeper pockets, but there is a ton of value (and potential value) in this great product.
