Colorful? No doubt about it. Rookies and a lot of them? Yes. Autographs possible. Uh huh. Less than $100 per box? Yep. 2022 Topps Fire Baseball marks the return of a brand that may not always be top of mind, but does offer a product that’s accessible and affordable.
The new edition is out as of Wednesday and while we weren’t provided with any card images, we do have a checklist and some details of what’s inside.
2022 Topps Fire Configuration and Base Set
Fire is one of those products with multiple configurations including blaster boxes at the retail level and this year is no exception. Hobby boxes have 20 packs while Blaster boxes have seven packs. All packs have six cards.
Hobby boxes promise two autographs and while they’re possible in Blaster boxes, they’re not guaranteed. Those $24.99 boxes do, however, offer four Gold Minted parallels you can’t find in other packages.
The 2022 Topps Fire base set consists of 200 players, over one-quarter of whom are rookies. Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr., Jeremy Pena, Spencer Strider, Wander Franco and Seiya Suzuki are among the names to be found.
Autographs
The autograph lineup is fairly substantial with over 70 players on the checklist including Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, Juan Soto, Luis Robert and Bryce Harper.
There are ten different dual autograph cards including some interesting pairings like Ohtani and Ichiro, Ohtani and Trout; Nolan Ryan and Jacob deGrom and even junk wax era favorites Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders.
There are ten triple autograph cards including Trout/Harper/Soto and Ohtani/Trout/Ryan.
Another autograph possibility are the Scorching Signature cards with a 17-player lineup that includes Aaron Judge, Julio Rodriguez, Trout and Ohtani.
Inserts
Insert sets include Flippin Out, To the Mooooon (cows and fire, what more could you want?), En Fuego, Flame Throwers and Fired Up. Again, Topps has yet to provide any images so we can’t show you what the cards look like.
