Established as a new Topps Chrome set last year, Platinum Anniversary is returning later this year and will celebrate the classic 1953 Topps design.
The 500-card base set will showcase that design with the Chrome finish collectors know very well. Last year’s product was built around the 1952 Topps design while the second edition of Platinum moves to ’53. Unlike the original, Topps won’t utilize paintings, though. These will be standard photos.
Top 2022 rookies like Bobby Witt Jr. and Wander Franco will headline the checklist. Current stars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Aaron Judge are part of the veteran roster while legends like Babe Ruth make their way into the retired portion of the checklist.
Configuration
Just like in 2021, the 2022 release of Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary will see both a Hobby and Lite version.
The Hobby version promises 12 boxes per case, 24 packs per box, 4 cards per pack and 1 autograph card per box.
In the Lite version, collectors can expect 16 boxes per case, 16 packs per box, 4 cards per pack and 4 Black & White Mini Diamond Lite exclusive parallels per box.
