2022 Topps Archives Signature Series Baseball will feature its annual offering of simplicity: one autographed, encased card per box featuring a current player.
Set for release on April 20, Archives Signature (Active Player Edition) is split into two releases each year, a retired player edition that arrives later in the season, preceded by the active player version featuring on-card autographs from players who were active as of the 2021 season.
The cards are actually previously released Topps cards that are stamped in gold foil, signed directly on card by the player and encased by Topps. It’s a lower cost product that’s hit or miss depending on the quality of the player. Topps is promising “one of the most robust lists of signers to date.” Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani and Bryce Harper are featured on the preliminary product information. Each card is hand numbered.
