Topps continues rounding up autographs from former stars for upcoming product releases. One of those annual offerings is only about guys whose careers are over. 2022 Topps Archives Signature Series Retired Player Edition is set to return this summer.
Part of the multi-tiered Archives Signature line, the Retired Player Edition is a simple concept: one previously released Topps card, now hand signed by the player, foil stamped, serial-numbered and enclosed in Topps Authenticated casing.
Boxes hold just the one card with 20 boxes per case.
While the checklist won’t be out until just prior to the product’s July 13 release date, Topps provided preview images of cards signed by Ken Griffey Jr., Dave Winfield and Reggie Jackson.
The roster is usually a mix of Hall of Famers and players who may bring back a memory or two but aren’t nearly as well known. Multi-player autograph cards and what Topps calls “premium buybacks” will be among the key hits.
Topps says 2022 Archives Signature Retired Player Edition with have “limited production.”
