It’s a big week for soccer collecting. The 2022 Panini World Cup Stickers are set to arrive across North America.
While traditional card aficionados may shrug their shoulders, World Cup sticker collecting is a huge deal, especially overseas, where large trading sessions with kids and adults are a regular part of daily life. The tradition dates back to the first World Cup stickers that were produced for the 1970 event.
This year’s tournament is scheduled to take place in Qatar from Nov. 21 to Dec. 18, much later in the year than normal.
With increased interest in soccer collecting on this side of the world, the stickers and 80-page albums are expected to be popular and unlike a lot of products these days, packs are fairly affordable.
Each pack hold five stickers with boxes holding 50 packs. Panini plans standalone displays at numerous retail outlets across the continent with individual sticker packs and albums for sale.
Each of the 32 teams in this year’s tournament are featured on its own spread of two pages where collectors typically place the stickers. There are team photos, team logos and 18 base player stickers.
The checklist includes 670 stickers in all, including 50 silver foil versions.
For the first time, the U.S. version of the World Cup Sticker Collection will include parallel versions of all non-foil stickers.
BLUE – 1:2 Packs, on average
RED – 1:26 Packs, on average

There are also online-exclusive packs that Panini will sell on its website which feature gold-bordered base stickers, with approximately four in each pack.
