Since its initial release in 2014, soccer collectors around the world hotly anticipate the Panini Prizm World Cup Soccer release alongside the tournament every four years. While the actual 2022 World Cup in Qatar is slated to begin on November 20, this year’s Prizm product is currently due out November 2.
The hobby configuration features 12 boxes per case, 12 packs per box and 12 cards per pack. On average, a single box break should include one autograph, four numbered parallels, two silvers, six other parallels, 10 inserts and two silver inserts. It’s the first time hobby boxes have guaranteed autographs.
The base set will feature 300 players from the 32 teams that qualified for the tournament. There are 12 base parallels per box, on average. New to the 2022 release is a Prizm Maroon parallel serial numbered to 22 honoring the predominant color of this years World Cup.
The base set will also feature non-numbered Silver, Hyper, Ice and Pink parallels. There are also 11 different numbered parallels to build your rainbow. Red, numbered to 399, Blue (299), Purple to (199), Red Mojo (99), Blue Mojo (75), Purple Mojo (49), Orange (25), Maroon (22), Gold (10), Green (5) and Black 1/1s.
Collectors can find autographs of some of the biggest stars in international soccer, both past and present, included one per box. The autograph checklist includes legends like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney.
Younger stars like Joao Felix and Lautaro Martinez are also included in the autograph checklist. French superstar Kylian Mbappe will also have some of his first certified autographs in the product after signing a deal with Panini last month.
Signatures Prizms Silver will be numbered to no more than 199. Signature Prizms Gold will be numbered to no more than 10 and Signature Prizms Black are 1/1s.
As an added chase, short printed Dual Signatures that highlight teammates and compatriots will be available in the product.
As with most Prizm releases, the inserts provide some of the best chase cards in the run. Inserts include Scorers Club, New Era, Connections, Phenomenon, Global Reach and Team Badges.
New Era inserts highlight 40 players making up the next generation of young soccer players that will be competing at the 2022 World Cup. New Era parallels include a non-numbered Silver, Orange numbered to 25, Gold (10), Green (5) and Black 1/1s.
Introduced in the 2018 Panini Prizm Soccer release, National Landmarks makes its return. It is an ultra-rare insert that features custom artwork of a superstar player along with background details reminiscent of that players country.
Other short-printed inserts include Manga, National Pride, Color Wheel and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Mascot.
