Within minutes of learning their NFL destination, members of the 2022 NFL Draft class will have their first licensed pro football trading card. The draft is set for Thursday night in Las Vegas.
As it’s done for the last several years, Panini America will create cards for draft picks through its on-demand Instant platform.
Panini, the league’s trading card partner and draft sponsor, will use images from the draft whenever possible to create cards for 30 of the top picks. The cards will carry the name of the player’s new team and their logo.
Panini will sell them as 30-card sets and on an individual basis. The cards will be printed and numbered to the amount sold and will only be available for a limited time. There will be Purple and Pink parallel versions offered (# to 25), Versicolor (# to 5) and 1/1 Black versions offered at higher prices but you’ll have to be quick on the draw to own them.
Panini will begin pre-selling the cards on its Instant platform on Wednesday.
Twenty-one players are expected to attend the draft in person. Last year, only 13 were on hand in Cleveland and in 2020, the draft was held virtually because of COVID-19. Panini used college action photos for all cards in the draft night sets during those two years.
